The concept of a culture war is is a fallacy promoted by those who seek to promote increased conflict. That all or nothing no compromise environment already exists, and need not be promoted, it needs to be reduced. Seek not to destroy an imagined enemy, and continue the violence. Seek instead to find common ground.
I am human, and therefore vulnerable to the same problem of reactivity. It needs to be resisted at every turn.
What we see out there is more of the same soup. The 2025 version of it. The “danger” is reacting too quickly and not taking the time needed to slow down and think. Then respond more rationally.
Whenever I disagree with someone, or think I do, I seek to understand them better. The path to a better world does not come from defeating others. The path to a better world comes from working to better understand others so we can continue to navigate a way to a shared path to our common future.
I have seen some moderated Town Hall meetings which bring together people with divergent viewpoints. In every case, people may not walk away with a changed mind, but they do walk away with improved perspective about our shared humanity. I would like to see more.
I relish civil conversations between people who do not agree with one another on many points, but they manage to have that conversation anyway.
